Partners integrate IoT end-to-end solutions for energy management in Smart Buildings using LoRaWAN

MClimate and Wattsense are partnering to bring LoRaWAN devices and an end-to-end energy efficiency solution to conventional Building Management Systems (BMS). The two companies hope to accelerate the adoption of smart buildings in Europe and meet new Building Automation Control Systems (BACS) requirements by 2025.

MClimate is an IoT company which designs and develops smart home and building automation devices with a focus on sustainability and delivering enhanced comfort, security and energy savings. The company told IncisorTV that it’s LoRaWAN portfolio is aimed at helping address some of today’s global challenges such as climate change and air quality by impacting consumption patterns linked to energy use, energy waste and air and CO2 monitoring.

The partner company, Wattsense, optimizes Building Management Systems (BMS), allowing for interoperability and providing IoT integration. Wattsense aims to make new building technologies accessible to more facilities and professionals.

The end-to-end LoRaWAN -based solution for smart buildings and energy management combines the smart LoRaWAN TRV Vicki by MClimate and the Box or Hub by Wattsense and offers energy management with savings that are claimed to be up to 30% compared to standard TRV as well as seamless integration with existing BMS for better monitoring, remote control, utility bills and maintenance management.

The solution is said to be easily scalable across buildings and suitable for facility managers, property owners, energy efficiency contractors and BMS integrators for public and private buildings. The partnership boldly claims that these operators will realise instant benefits from fully integrated remote energy management, lower maintenance and operating costs and energy savings. The solution works by integrating MClimate’s LoRaWAN sensors and actuators portfolio into the existing BMS of any building, thanks to Wattsense’s technology, which “translates” the LoRaWAN protocol into BACnet and allows for discovery and control of the devices natively from the BMS.

“I am very pleased to establish such an important partnership for the whole smart building industry. We are developing innovative “smart” devices with a great value-add, but too often stakeholders wonder how the MClimate devices would work with the existing systems and if they will have to educate their employees to work with yet another software. Thanks to Wattsense, our technology can be easily integrated into the existing BMS and most importantly – we will not need to change the end user habits, leading to easier and wider adoption of an innovative technology that dramatically increases the safety of the tenants and the energy efficiency of the building,” said Lyubomir Yanchev, MClimate’s CEO.

“Despite the fast growth of new technologies to better manage properties, only a tiny fraction of the world’s buildings benefit from these advancements today. At Wattsense, our mission is to make buildings technology, such as the powerful devices created by MClimate, accessible to more facilities and professionals. MClimate is a company that pushes the limits of the possible in the field of Smart Building. Their unique and innovative products complement the Wattsense offering perfectly,” added Louis Vermorel, CEO of Wattsense.
