The software development kit for building cellular IoT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Matter, Thread and Zigbee products nominated in Design Tool and Development Software Product category
Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF Connect SDK—a scalable and unified Software Development Kit for building cellular IoT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth® LE, Matter, Thread, and Zigbee products—has been shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Design Tool and Development Software Product of the Year’ category of the 2022 Elektra Awards.
Recognizing electronics innovation
Now in its 20th year, the Elektra Awards in the U.K. celebrates technical, business, and personal achievement in the global electronics industry across 17 categories. A panel of judges, including designers, engineers, and members of the technical media, reviewed submissions based on the product’s degree of technical innovation, performance parameters, and its ability to open up new markets and applications, before deciding to honor Nordic’s nRF Connect SDK.
The nRF Connect SDK has been engineered to ease the development process for companies building products based on Nordic’s nRF52, nRF53, and nRF91 Series wireless devices, and the new nRF7002 Wi-Fi Companion IC by offering a single code base for all devices and software components. It delivers developers a framework for building size-optimized software for memory-constrained devices as well as powerful and complex software for more advanced devices and applications. The SDK integrates the Zephyr real-time operating system (RTOS) and a wide range of samples, application protocols, wireless stacks, libraries, and hardware drivers.
In addition, the nRF Connect SDK includes a Bluetooth 5.3 qualified stack, and the most recent version, nRF Connect SDK v2.1.0 also includes feature-completed experimental support for Matter over Thread plus experimental support for Matter over Wi-Fi for the nRF5340 SoC used with the nRF7002 Companion IC. The incorporation of Matter over Thread comes after Nordic was the first company to earn a Thread 1.3 certification badge for the SDK earlier this year. Thread 1.3 is a prerequisite for Matter over Thread.
Simplified development
The nRF Connect for VS Code Integrated Development Environment (IDE) allows users to develop, build and debug applications based on the nRF Connect SDK using the Visual Studio Code IDE. As the nRF Connect for VS Code IDE is specifically designed to work with the nRF Connect SDK and Nordic’s range of development kits and prototyping platforms, it can significantly streamline development time.
The winners of the 20th annual Elektra Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on the 30th November, 2022 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
